Jaws is a 1975 suspense/thriller directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie stars Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw as a trio of unlikely allies who are forced to band together to battle a great white shark that has been terrorizing the small island community of Amity. Chief Martin Brody (Scheider) is the first to suspect the shark is responsible for the deaths of several swimmers, however the mayor refuses to close the beaches. With help from oceanographer Matt Hooper (Dreyfuss) and professional shark hunter Quint (Shaw), the men embark on an intense battle against the apex predator. In the end, they manage to kill the shark and save the islanders from its menace.

Deliverance is a 1972 American thriller film directed by John Boorman and adapted from the novel of the same name by James Dickey. It tells the story of four city dwellers in the rural Southern United States who embark on a weekend canoe trip and soon find themselves in a fight for their lives. After their guide abandons them, they are soon confronted by a pair of violent and menacing locals, as well as the natural dangers of the wilderness. The film stars Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox. The film is noted for its shocking and suspenseful nature, as well as the Academy Award-nominated score by composer Aaron Copland. It was a box office success, grossing over $45 million against a budget of $4 million, and was critically acclaimed upon its release. It has since gained cult status and is often cited as one of the greatest films of all time.
