"Aliens" is a science fiction action horror film directed by James Cameron. It is the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien. The film follows Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) as she returns to the planet where her crew encountered the hostile Alien creature, this time accompanied by a unit of space marines. After the marines are nearly wiped out by the Aliens and their mysterious queen, Ripley is the only survivor. With the help of the android Bishop (Lance Henriksen), she must confront the queen in a desperate attempt to prevent the Aliens from reaching Earth. As the battle between human and alien rages, Ripley discovers that the Aliens are driven by maternal instinct to protect their young at all costs. In the end, Ripley is able to successfully detonate the colony's nuclear reactor, destroying the Aliens and saving the human race from extinction.
