The Favourite is a 2018 British period comedy-drama directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Set in the early 18th century in England, the film follows the story of two cousins - Abigail Hill, a young woman of humble birth, and Sarah Churchill, the Duchess of Marlborough - and their battle for power and influence over Queen Anne. Abigail is determined to reclaim her place in society and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. As the competition between the two women intensifies, the balance of power in the court begins to shift, leading to a dramatic and unpredictable conclusion.
